New library for students
D-Drill were called out to the new library at the University of Birmingham for a floor sawing job.
The aim was to form expansion joints in granite paviours to match existing concrete frame expansion joints. The challenge was that all cut lines are visible to the staff, pupils and general public so had to be straight and tidy with no scratch marks or overcutting. No other companies wanted to take on the work, as anything less than perfection would have been unacceptable due to its public location.
D-Drill achieved neat, straight cutting which has blended in with the paviours and new building. The client and main contractor very happy with the end results, as work was carried out without any disturbance or fuss, the area was left clean and tidy, and with no staining to the granite paviours from cooling water or slurry.
