D-Drill works on VW dealership

A Coventry-based automotive company has invested almost £1 million to give one of its city dealerships a major extension and makeover.

City firm Deeley Construction has just completed the work at Listers Volkswagen Coventry in Quinton Road in time for the new registrations at the start of the month.

The job was completed on time and on budget by using all local major sub-contractors.

The work has seen the creation of new handover and MOT bays, an extension to the showroom area and new offices inside the main dealership building.

The work, all to Volkswagen Group specification, is part of an on-going upgrade of dealerships across the country.

It is the 20th major project carried out by Deeley for Listers, which operates around 50 dealerships across the country for a range of leading brands, and involved Deeley sourcing new temporary offices for dealer staff while the work was underway.

Martin Gallagher, managing director of Deeley Construction, said: “Listers and Deeley are Coventry companies which operate across the country but it is always pleasing to work in our home city.

“This work has made a considerable difference to the dealership and we are really pleased with the results.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Listers but also with the sub-contractors we employ, many of whom have worked on other Listers jobs for us.

“In fact our site manager Paul Marlowe was site manager on Volkswagen Nuneaton for our first Listers project in 2001, and I think that continuity helps.”

One primary local contactor used on the job was diamond drilling and concrete sawing company D-Drill.

Managing director Julie White said the companies had worked together for 45 years.

“We do jobs in all areas of the UK, but have worked for the Deeley Group since we first set up the company,” she said. “We have a tremendous amount of construction expertise in Coventry and Warwickshire and it is great when we can come together on a local job.

“It proves that while being able to do the job is the primary factor, relationships and trust built up over time do still make a difference.”

Listers sell Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, Lexus, Honda, Volkswagen vans and Toyota vehicles from eight sites across the city and have a dedicated crash repair centre just along Quinton Road.

Glen Hook, Brand Manager at Listers Volkswagen Coventry, said: “The work has created more valuable working space, improved the offices and really helped us improve the customer experience.

“It was great to see the March 1 buyers collect their cars from a dealership which looks so good.”
