D-Kerb makes the cut!

D-Drill will be going for glory later this month after its new machine made the cut in a major industry awards ceremony.

The company has been shortlisted in the innovation category at the Construction News Specialist Awards, which will take place at the London Hilton on February 24.

D-Drill’s new D-Kerb machine was put forward in the category after it was invented by managing director Julie White to solve a problem with cutting kerbs at a 45 degree angle.

The company was originally approached to cut the kerbs in-situ and scoured the world markets to find the machine to do the job. When nothing could be found, Julie came up with the idea of the D-Kerb.

It has since been utilised on a range of projects including the Cycle SuperHighway in London – to help cut down on cycling injuries and to have less impact on cost and the environment than changing each kerbstone – as well as outside the Café Royale in Central London where car owners were damaging their vehicles on kerbs until D-Drill cut them to 45 degrees.
