Cemex hires local drilling experts D-Drill
One of the world’s leading suppliers of cement and concrete has hired local drilling experts to Diamond Drill penetrations for blast out waste material from its production plant in Rugby.
Cemex, who generate more than £1 billion worth of global annual sales, called in D-Drill, who is based in Shilton, near Coventry, to diamond drill blast holes through the refractory of the kiln that processes materials into cement. The work had to be completed over a weekend to allow Cemex to return to full operation when the working week commenced again.
Stuart Gould, a D-Drill technician, said: “There is occasionally a build-up of material within the refractory and it needed blasting out – it was our job to drill the holes to allow that to happen. It’s a very important operation for Cemex because it would have halted production had it not been resolved. Therefore, it was crucial that we got the job done across a weekend and we were delighted to be able to achieve that aim.”
D-Drill is a UK leader in diamond drilling and demolition work. The company recently won an international award at the International Concrete Drilling and Sawing Association Project Awards in Las Vegas.
